GTECH G2, the supplier of interactive software for online gambling applications, has issued a press statement which states that the French bookmaker EuroSportBet, which has integrated the company’s sports betting platform MarginMaker, can now allow its players to place bets on horse races.

GTECH G2 stated that EuroSportBet was developed jointly and that the public application programming interfaces of the MarginMaker platform were used in order to create a version of EuroSportBet, which since June has allowed players to place bets on a host of sports including rugby, football and tennis.

“We very much look forward to helping EuroSportBet and its British counterpart EuroSportBetUK preserve their cutting-edge offerings in Great Britain and in France,” said the vice-president of sport betting for GTECH G2. “We are extremely thrilled by MarginMaker’s ability to take bets across many channels and integrate so seamlessly with a host of products.”

GTECH G2 is a subsidiary of GTECH Corporation, the online gambling services company which is based in the United States. The company declared that the owner of EuroSportBet and its British counterpart, SPS SA, was ‘one of the first companies which was able to obtain a licence following the deregulation of the French online gambling market’ and remains ‘one of only a few operators who has obtained a licence for fixed-odds bets on sports’.

Frederic Tardieu, the programme manager for EuroSportBet, had the following to say about the cooperation between the two companies: “The team in charge of sports betting at GTECH G2 provided enormous support during the integration of the new PMC tote system on our MarginMaker platform, from the early stages of the integration to the finalisation of the changes.”

“We are now one of the few French legal online gambling operators who can offer their players sports betting, poker and betting on horse races.”

Three-handed, the result of the EPT London looked a hard one to predict. The remaining players were each sizably stacked, each had fire in their eyes, and with a dinner break on the horizon no one felt any need to be hasty.

Then the earth suddenly moved, two hands collided, sending one man to the rail and another into a massive lead. But just as it looked like John Juanda’s four-to-one chip advantage over David Vamplew would have the final wrapped up within minutes, Vamplew began to battle. And what a fight he put up.

The 23-year-old’s previous best result was a cash in a World Series hold’em event earlier this year, but today he showed all the experience of a wise old pro, fighting back to level the chip counts, then digging deeper and deeper when Juanda won it back, finally turning over the winning hand to be crowned newest champion on the European Poker Tour.

If Vamplew is a shock winner of EPT London then it’s because of the man he had to defeat on his way to the title.

Juanda is a pro of the very highest order, a four-time bracelet winner with more than $10.5 million in the tournament bank, a resume comparable with only a handful of players. Two years ago he finished second in the EPT London High Roller £1 million Showdown. Today he settled for second place once more, denied by a Scottish terrier who doesn’t know how to quit. When you think about it, as it fun as it can be to play casino online games, it can never quite replicate the drama of watching grandmasters like these two clash for hours around a small table.

“He got really unlucky,” said Vamplew of Juanda after the final. “It will be really interesting to see what he had when it was broadcast, [to see] what he had when he was getting me off some of my hands.”

Vamplew took to the task of overhauling Juanda’s 19.6 million to 5.6 million chip lead, but it was no straightforward task. At times Vamplew looked physically worn and mentally exhausted, while Juanda remained fresh, occasionally stretching the muscles in his neck, that being his only public show of fatigue. That Vamplew was able to overcome this lent further weight to his achievement tonight.

Back at the start today Juanda had led. Well almost. Actually Bowker arrived at the London Hilton Metropole with a 90,000 advantage over Juanda, but that was quickly overcome, Juanda stretching out toward the 10 million mark as Bowker remained static.

The table featured an unusual dynamic, the big stacks of Bowker and Juanda casting shadows over the other six.

Per Ummer was first to depart, eliminated by another short-stack Artur Wasek, before Tom Marchese departed in seventh place, seen off by Vamplew.

Portuguese player Fernando Brito went next, another member of the short-stack club, followed by Kayvan Payman in fifth.

Artur Wasek was no better equipped chip wise but matched his fourth place at EPT Berlin with a similar game plan, one of caution and intense chip management. All-in several times the Polish giant was finally felled by John Juanda, his two final tables in just a few months a remarkable achievement nonetheless.

It left Vamplew, Bowker and Juanda, the three players deemed “most likely” all day; Bowker departing in that hand to set up a gruelling heads-up finale, one made memorable for the tireless efforts of the newcomer Vamplew taking on Juanda, one of the game’s genuine legends.

In the last hand, with Juanda reduced to little more than 3 million chips, both players turned over their cards, [ad][3c] for Vamplew against Juanda’s [kd][2d]. When the flop landed [3s][ad][ts] Juanda allowed himself a smile, beaten, unable to crack his young foe.

As a journalist who recently emigrated from the other side of the Mississippi River to divide his time writing and grinding in Las Vegas, the poker capital of the world, I hear a lot of buzz around town. One of my favorite charity tourneys of the year is this Saturday — Operation: All In … Randy Couture’s  poker tournament and charity auction benefitting his Xtreme Couture GI Foundation. LAS VEGAS – Mixed Martial Arts legend Randy “The Natural” Couture will host his fourth annual “Operation All In” poker tournament and charity auction benefiting the Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas, Saturday, Jan. 14 starting at 2 p.m.

This event, held in The Grand events center, is open to the public and will feature a celebrity charity poker tournament, live and silent auctions, autograph sessions with photo opportunities and raffle prizes while giving back to injured troops.

“Operation All In” will welcome professional celebrity poker players and stars from the MMA world and Hollywood to play alongside the public in its charity poker tournament, where several great prizes will be awarded along with the grand prize of $10,000 cash. The buy-in for “Operation All In” at the Golden Nugget is $220 with $100 multi re-buys.

MMA fighters confirmed to attend include Randy Couture, Clay Guida, Cung Le, John Alessio, Martin Kampmann, Jay Hieron, John Gunderson, Brad Tavares, Tyson Griffin, Ryan Couture and Frank Trigg. Celebrities will also partake in the action, and those confirmed to attend include David Zayas, Shanna Moakler, JJ Lui, TJ Lavin and Lon Maccaren from ESPN. Other fighters and poker pros are expected to confirm attendance as the event nears.

Ultimate Fighting Champion Couture, a veteran himself of the Army’s 101st Airborne Division, started the Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation to raise money and awareness for troops wounded in action and their families. After visiting with amputees at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Couture was brought to tears seeing the young men and women who had given their all for freedom, young heroes who now have to go through life’s challenges with devastating physical and emotional injuries. The Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation goal is to help these brave men and women fulfill any of their unmet needs as they return back to civilian life.

A highlight of the event will be both the silent auction, with an amazing array of MMA memorabilia up for grabs, and the live auction which includes some items donated personally by Couture, such as dinner with the fighter and a one-hour personal MMA lesson. In addition to Couture, other MMA fighters will be on hand throughout the evening for photos and autographs with tournament players and fans.

The man who won a satellite entry to the PCA $25,000 High Roller last night, busted out in the first three levels today and then won a last-minute single table satellite to get back in and finish Day 1 with the chip lead.

Yunis’ 407,100 stack is the best of the 56 players remaining in the event tonight.

Yunis’ story is one for the books to be sure, but if there was another equally unlikely tale today, it came in the form of multimillionaire venture capitalist and amateur poker player Bill Perkins. The man from Houston, Texas has been trying his hand at high stakes poker and seems to have found a foothold in this event. His 345,700 is good for second place headed into Day 2.

There are not a great many poker players in the world who can afford to casually sign up for a $25,000 buy-in poker tournament. There are even fewer who can afford to rebuy if they bust out early. Most of those people are on Paradise Island this week. One hundred forty-one of them showed up today. Seven of them bought in twice.

This field highlights poker’s elite: former PCA champions, WSOP title-holders, Team PokerStars Pro, a multimillionaire amateur, and some of online and live poker’s greatest high stakes specialists. That is to say, if we were to list the notable players, we’d be listing the entire remaining field (which, by the way, you will find on the Chip Counts tab of our $25,000 High Roller coverage). With that understood, still contending for the title tonight are several members of the PokerStars family.

Tomorrow (or let’s be honest….later today), the top 16 will make the money on the way to Saturday’s final table of eight. Whoever comes out on top will win $1,134,930.

During the 15 hours we spent on the clock today, we managed to find a ton of great stories around the big event. Here’s a rundown of all of them:

Also, we can’t let the end of the night pass without mentioning the amazing final table of the PCA main event. The top three players are all separated by one big blind. One of those players is Xuan Liu who now holds the distinction of having gone the deepest of any woman in PCA history. The partnership between the EPL and The Poker Channel will allow the league’s 70 hours of recorded for television tournaments to be broadcast to approximately 30 million satellite and cable homes throughout the European continent. The EPL will make its debut in Europe on The Poker Channel beginning on January 15 (check local listings for exact times) over such networks as Sky in the United Kingdom, Martens in Germany and Canal Digital in Finland. In the United States, the EPL has already secured broadcast rights on the cable channel Velocity and on the regular airwaves on CBS.

Both sides are thrilled to bring the EPL events to a new audience overseas. “Expanding our television coverage into Europe is a step forward for building a global fan base for Epic Poker,” stated Katherine Kowal, the Vice President of League Operations and Programming for the ownership behind the EPL, Federated Sports & Gaming. “Poker Channel Europe, with quality distribution and broad reach, will help us introduce our content to a very important market and audience.”

“With the incredible success of Epic Poker League’s first three events and high quality production, they are a great partner for the Poker Channel,” echoed Chris White, the Director of Business Development for The Poker Channel’s owners, Gaming Media Group. “We’re proud to bring this unique format featuring the world’s best players to millions of Poker Channel viewers.”

Two of the three EPL tournaments have already been fully broadcast in the United States. The inaugural event, a $20,000 Six Handed No Limit Hold’em tournament, brought out 137 of the biggest players in the game. In the end, poker professional David “Chino” Rheem was able to vanquish veteran Erik Seidel to take down a $1 million first place prize. That final table also included such notable names as Jason Mercier, Hasan Habib, Gavin Smith and Huck Seed.

The second tournament, a $20,000 Eight Handed No Limit Hold’em tournament, was highly competitive despite only drawing a field of 97 players. Seidel became the first player to make two final tables on the burgeoning professional circuit, eventually finishing fourth, while “young gun” Mike McDonald emerged as the champion over David Steicke and Fabrice Soulier.

The third tournament, a $20,000 “Mix-Max” No Limit Hold’em event, has yet to hit the airwaves. In the best two of three heads up final (and the longest final table in the EPL’s young history), Chris Klodnicki eventually defeated Andrew Lichtenberger for the crown. Joe Tehan, Michael Mizrachi and Scott Clements also made the final table action.

The third EPL event is set for broadcast in the United States beginning in February. Velocity will have three hours of the early action on three consecutive Friday evenings in February (the 10th, 17th and the 24th), while CBS will broadcast an hour of the tournament on February 26.

The fourth tournament on the EPL schedule, which was supposed to have been played in February, has been postponed until later in the spring due to the plethora of tournaments internationally early in 2012, and the League Championship event, featuring the top 27 points earners from the first four tournaments, will occur after the rescheduled fourth event.

The Poker Channel’s addition of the EPL continues to make them the “worldwide leader” when it comes to televised poker events. Already broadcasting such programming as “High Stakes Poker,” the World Series of Poker, the European Poker Tour and the World Poker Tour, the Epic Poker League seems like a natural extension of their already popular poker offerings.
